composite, process of obtaining and using the composite in ballistic shielding. the present invention describes a composite consisting of aramid fabrics impregnated with a thermoplastic polymeric matrix nanomodified by organophilic montmorillonite clay. the invention also describes the use of the composite in ballistic protection. in the invention, the nanomodified thermoplastic polymeric matrix has the function of adhering to the layers of tissues and increasing the distribution of impact energy in the radial direction, involving a greater number of fibers in the retention of the projectile. in this way the invention allows for less posterior deformation; greater absorption of impact energy; higher speed limit of impact and lower specific weight of the ballistic helmet. the present invention is in the fields of chemistry, materials engineering and military engineering. |
