abstract process of obtaining carboxy-substituted meso-phenylporphyrin and use as a photosensitizer in photodynamic therapy. the present invention relates to the porphyrinic compound, meso-tetrakis [4- (3-carboxypropoxy) -3-methoxyphenyl] porphyrin (tcmpp), a synthetic, water-soluble, carboxy-substituted meso-phenylporphyrin and the process for obtaining it, which uses a low cost precursor aldehyde, reduced reaction time, simplified and effective purification steps. in addition, the present invention relates to the use of porphyrin tcmpp as a photosensitizer in photodynamic therapy for microbial inactivation, in the photodynamic treatment of tumor lesions, dermatoses and also for the photodynamic diagnosis of tumor lesions.
