abstract | The invention is a bioactive compound obtained by mixing yacon syrup and concentrated carotenoid extract. The invention further comprises the process for making the compound by making the two ingredients, yacon syrup and concentrated carotenoid extract. The manufacture of yacon syrup features the steps of washing, disinfecting, peeling and cutting yacon roots, enzymatic root inactivation, grinding, enzymatic pulp treatment and membrane filtration. The manufacture of carotenoid extract presents the steps of maceration and pressing of cashew tree stalk fiber, pre-filtration, centrifugation, membrane filtration and retentate heat treatment. |
