titleOfInvention | compositions and methods for modifying gene expression using water deficit-inducible soybean promoter in plants |
abstract | compositions and methods for modifying gene expression using water deficit-inducible soybean promoter in plants. The present invention relates to a nucleotide sequence capable of modifying the expression of one or more genes of interest in plant leaves and roots, primarily soybeans, as well as for producing genetically modified individuals that are capable of drought tolerance. More specifically, this invention relates to a novel soybean promoter which can be used to control expression of the coding sequence of genes of interest that confer tolerance to water deficit only at the time that transformed plants are subjected to stress conditions. , avoiding the constitutive expression of the transgene and unnecessary energy expenditure. In this context, this technology can be applied to biotechnological development and production of cultivars, especially soybean cultivars, which are more drought tolerant, without prejudice to plant development and yield. Thus, the present invention describes DNA constructs containing the promoter of the invention for the development of genetically modified plants, as well as a method for modifying gene expression in plants. |
