The present invention relates to a sliding component (2), such as a motor sliding component, comprising an overlap (12) forming the bearing surface against a steel trunnion or the like. the overlay (12) comprises a polymeric material and a metal oxide, wherein the metal oxide has a thermal conductivity of greater than about 1.5 wm-1k-1 and a mohs hardness of between about 5 and about 7.
