NANOPARTICLES AND THEIR USE AS A CONTRAST AGENT IN MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING The present invention describes iron oxide nanoparticles functionalized with bioactive molecules that have application as contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging, suitable for efficient and safe diagnosis by resonance imaging magnetic, and as a material for treatment and delivery of therapeutic substances at specific sites by magnetically induced accumulation at sites of diagnostic and therapeutic interest. The present invention falls within the fields of chemistry and nanotechnology applied to medicine and, more particularly, relates to contrast agents for diagnostic magnetic resonance imaging. |
