The present invention relates to the provision of tetramethoxy substituted iodine derivatives of quercetin, a commercially available low cost abundant natural flavonoid. iodinated derivatives obtained in a simple, direct and environmentally friendly procedure using inexpensive and affordable reagents, resulting in high value-added products useful as raw materials (synthesis substrates) in obtaining biflavonoids and other synthesis products. Specifically, the present invention reports the synthesis of 6,8-diiodine and 8-iodo-3,7,3 ', 4'-tetramethoxyquercetin, two novel products in the patent literature and quite promising as activated derivatives for reactions. nucleophilic substitution and various couplings, resulting in new series of compounds with potential biological activity.
