abstract Determining the amount of fuel flowing through a fuel injector based on a fuel heating by means of an electric heating device. The present invention relates to a method described for determining the amount of fuel flow by means of a fuel injector, wherein the fuel injector has an electric heating device for fuel heating and a temperature measuring device for the temperature measurement of the heated fuel. the described method presents (a) applying (110) the electric heating device with a predetermined electric heating power, (b) measuring an increase (120) of the fuel temperature as a consequence of the heating power, and (c) determining (130) the amount of fuel flow through a fuel injector based on the applied electric heating power and the measured temperature rise. In addition, a method for matching fuel supply to at least two cylinders of an internal combustion engine is described, wherein the method described above is employed for determining the amount of fuel flow through a fuel injector.
