A method and apparatus for producing a tube partially having a non-circular cross-section and having circular end portions and using the same. A method for producing a tube having in sections a non-circular deformation profile comprising: a) providing a tube (81) having an initial circular profile (11); b) conveying the tube (81) in a warm malleable state through a pinch which is formed by compression rollers (1) and has a first pinch width which is greater than or equal to an outer dimension of the profile initial; c) adjusting the compression rollers (1) to define a second clamping width, which is smaller than the outer dimension of the initial profile, and deforming the initial profile in said hot malleable state to obtain said non-circular cross-section (13). ; and d) adjusting the compression rollers (1) to define a third clamping width, which is greater than or equal to the outer dimension of the initial profile, and cutting said pipe into a region having a circular cross section; so that respective end portions (11; 11 *) of said pipe have a circular cross section. According to the invention, the pipes can be reliably connected with connecting members or other pipes through the circular profile end portions using proven pipe connection technologies. At the same time, there is at least one central section having a non-circular cross section which is advantageous, for example, for photobioreactor applications. |
