abstract | obtaining xanthan gum-like exopolysaccharides by use of liquor obtained from alkaline pretreatment of corn cob. The present invention relates to a process for obtaining xanthan gum-like exopolysaccharides through the use of liqueur containing hemicellulolytic fractions obtained from alkaline pretreatment of corncob as a carbon source and supplementing nutrient supplementation. said corn cob liquor is composed of different compounds, among which stand out xylose, arabinose, glucose, cellobiose, hemicelluloses, lignin and micronutrients, is used as a partial or total carbon source in fermentation media, whether or not supplemented with other sources of nutrients, in the presence of xanthomonas strains, in shake flasks, to promote the bioconversion of this product in xanthan gum exopolysaccharides. The use of said corncob liquor promotes the reduction or total elimination of the need to add traditional carbon source to the fermentation medium. |
