abstract | expression cassette to transform eukaryotic cell, genetically modified microorganism with efficient xylose consumption, process for biofuel and biochemical production and biofuel and / or biochemical thus produced. The present invention describes an expression cassette for transforming eukaryotic cells comprising the unnatural nucleotide sequence encoding peptide with characteristic xylose isomerase (seqid no: 1), optionally also comprising other pentose phosphate pathway genes. In addition, a microorganism deposited under number dsm28739 is described, which, in addition to the modifications described above, also presents genetic modifications arising from adaptive evolution. The described microorganism presents efficient xylose consumption and ethanol conversion when compared to its counterpart without said genetic modifications and evolutionary mutations. A process for producing biofuels and biochemicals, preferably ethanol, from the lignocellulosic portion of the plant biomass is also described. Also described are biofuels, preferably ethanol, and biochemicals produced by the process of the invention. |
