| abstract |
CAP WITH EXTENDED FURROW SHAPES. The present invention relates to an intravaginal feminine hygiene tampon which includes a generally cylindrical absorbent pad and a retraction member operatively connected to the generally cylindrical pad adjacent the retraction end thereof. The absorbent block includes a fiber mass compacted into a self-supporting shape and a fluid permeable sheet-shaped cover substantially surrounding the fiber mass. The absorbent pad has formed on this or on it a plurality of separate groove shapes. At least two of said separate groove shapes each have a length, measured along the groove, which is at least 150% of the block length; each has a major axis that has a generally longitudinal orientation; and each has an outline adjacent to at least one of the insertion end and the retracting end. |
