titleOfInvention process used for the production of lithium carbonate from a brine rich in ca and mg
abstract Process route for the production of sodium borate and lithium cabornate from brine rich in ca and mg. The present invention proposes a complex, advantageous and effective process route for obtaining sodium borate and lithium carbonate from a brine rich in ca and mg, in addition to lithium and boron. The objective is to overcome the technical and economic scenarios demonstrated by the technologies and process routes already known. According to the present invention, the process used for the production of lithium carbonate comprises the following steps: (i) filtering the ca-rich brine in G; (ii) treating the filtrate with hydrochloric acid; (iii) solvent extraction (sx); (iv) first purification of the filtrate; (v) second purification of the filtrate; (vi) third purification of the filtrate (vii) reaction of the filtrate with supersaturated sodium carbonate; (viii) thickening and filtering the resulting pulp obtained at the end of step (wii); and (ix) washing and drying the lithium carbonate. Also according to the present invention, the process used for the production of sodium borate comprises the following steps: (i) filtering the ca and mg rich brine; (ii) treating the filtrate with hydrochloric acid; (iii) production of na2b4o7 by solvent extraction (sx) of the acidified brine obtained at the end of step (ii); (iv) reducing the amount of water in the solution to reach a saturated condition obtained at the end of step (iii) by solar energy; (v) crystallizing the na2b4o7 produced in step (iii), using an evaporator and steam to heat the solution and causing water vapor to evaporate as well as to crystallize na2b4o7; (vi) crystallization of na2b4o7 by cooling; (vii) recycling the mother liquor to feed the evaporator used in step (v).
