abstract | Method for obtaining seedlings for sugarcane micropropagation, for the production of synthetic sugarcane seed, for the storage of synthetic seed, for the production of seedlings, viable seedlings, and the synthetic seed of sugarcane sugar. This invention relates to a method of obtaining plant propagules for use in sugar cane micropropagation. In this invention a micropropagation method has been developed that can be used to obtain seedlings to be used for the production of synthetic sugarcane seed on a commercial scale. The synthetic seeds produced with the seedlings of the present invention may be planted in a greenhouse or greenhouse or in the field in full sun. In addition, synthetic seeds produced with the seedlings of the present invention can be stored at controlled temperature for later distribution, as well as dehydrated to facilitate handling and plating either directly in the greenhouse or in the field in full sunlight. The distribution logistics of these synthetic seeds are facilitated due to the reduction of the volume of transported propagative material. The method of preparing the seedlings of the present invention reduces the time for obtaining seedlings for transplantation, allows automation and mechanization of seedling multiplication and transplantation operations, and is efficient for commercial scale sugarcane micropropagation. |
