titleOfInvention Enzyme carbon dioxide uptake using carbonic anhydrase
abstract Carbon dioxide uptake enzymatically using carbonic anhydrase. An alternative to the disposal of co2 is sequestration based on the chemical fixation of co2 in the form of carbon minerals using biological systems. The use of carbonic anhydrase for this purpose is a clean and viable alternative with the additional benefit of the carbon form that can be used in wastewater treatment plants. Carbonic anhydrase is a metalloenzyme that catalyzes the reversible hydration of co 2 widely distributed in animals, plants and eubacteria. The present invention relates to the process of enzymatic uptake of carbon dioxide through precipitation of the carbon dioxide resulting from the hydration of carbon dioxide by the enzyme carbonic anhydrase in carbonate minerals.
