METHOD OF OBTAINING METALLIC FOAMS AND USES The present invention is a method of obtaining metallic foams or porous metals containing closed pores and not interconnected with each other. With the method, porous metal products are obtained using gas generation from foaming agents intimately incorporated into the metal, and foaming occurs in the metal in the semi-solid state. The resulting product is a material containing fine and distributed pores, with differentiated properties if compared to the same volume of solid metal alloy, with less weight, better thermal insulation and greater capacity for energy absorption when it undergoes compression. |
