abstract | PHARMACEUTICAL FORMULATION BASED ON TARAXACUM OFFICINALE W, SOLANUM MELONGENA, SMILAX OFFICINALLIS AND ITS USE IN THE PREPARATION OF A PHYTOTHERAPY TO TREAT HYPERCOLESTEROLEMIA AND HYPERTRIGLICERIDEMIA. The present invention comprises tinting roots of Smilax officinalis, tincture of leaves and flowers of Taraxacum ossicinale and tincture of the fruit of Solanum melongena, associated with one or more pharmaceutically active ingredients in presentations in the form of tinctures, drops, syrups, capsules, tablets, dragees and similar applications orally, used in the preparation of herbal medicines to be an adjunct in the treatment of hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia to be used in laboratories or pharmaceutical industries. The effects of the aforementioned formulation containing the three plants (Taraxacum offcinale, Smilax officinalis and Solanum melongena) were compared to drugs on lipid concentrations in rabbits fed a diet supplemented with cholesterol. The concentration of total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, triciglycerols and glucose were measured in the animals' plasma. The use of the aforementioned pharmaceutical formulation in rabbits favored the reduction of plasma concentrations of total cholesterol and the concentration of triacylglycerols and can be used as an adjuvant in the treatment, avoiding the need for high doses of synthetic medication that lead to unwanted side effects. |
