titleOfInvention composition, pe-100 tube, manufacturing process of a pe-100 tube and process for polymerization of the composition
abstract COMPOSITION, PE-100 PIPE, PE-100 PIPE MANUFACTURING PROCESS AND PROCESS FOR COMPOSITION POLYMERIZATION The present invention is directed to homopolymers and copolymers of mono-1-olefins, to a method of preparing such polymers and to the uses of such polymers. The polymers of the present invention are formed by contacting at least one mono-1-olefin having from 2 to about 20 carbon atoms per molecule with at least one mono-1-olefin comonomer having from 2 to about 10 carbon atoms. carbon by molecules in a reaction zone under polymerization conditions in the presence of a hydrocarbon diluent, a catalyst system and a cocatalyst. The catalyst system of the present invention comprises a chromium source or an aluminophosphate support which has a phosphorus to aluminum molar ratio of less than approximately 0.3. The catalyst system is then treated with less than approximately 7 weight percent fluoride based on the weight of the support and calcined. The cocatalyst is selected from trialkylboro compounds, triarylboro compounds, alkyl aluminum compounds and combinations thereof. In another aspect of the present invention, ethylene copolymers are employed to produce PE-100 tubes. These copolymers are formed by contacting ethylene with at least one mono-1-olefin comonomer having from 2 to about 10 carbon atoms per molecule in a reaction zone under polymerization conditions in the presence of a hydrocarbon diluent, a system catalyst and a cocatalyst. In addition, comonomers may be selected from mono-1-olefins having from 4 to 10 carbon atoms such as 1-hexene, 1-butene, 4-methyl-1-pentene, 1-octene and 1-decene. These ethylene copolymers may then be employed for the production of PE-100 tubes having small diameters as diameters having greater than 106.68 cm, substantially without yielding or otherwise undergoing gravitational deformation. Ethylene and 1-hexene copolymers that are used to produce the PE-100 tube are described.
