abstract | "WATER COATED COATINGS UNDERSTANDING MULTIFUNCTIONAL CARBAMATE GROUPS". The present invention relates to a method of preparing waterborne multifunctional materials, especially waterborne multifunctional materials, comprising at least one primary carbamate group and a graft portion (cii). The method of the invention requires successive or simultaneous reactions of a material P with a graft material (c) and ammonia. Material P comprises two or more cyclic carbonate groups (bii). The graft material (c) comprises at least one amine group (ci) and a graft portion (cii). The amine group (ci) is selected from primary amines, secondary amines, and mixtures thereof. The resulting waterborne multifunctional materials may be water dispersible, water soluble and / or useful in electroplating coatings. |
