titleOfInvention Calpastatin Alleles (cast)
abstract "CALPASTATINA RINGS (CAST)". The present invention relates to novel alleles characterized by polymorphisms in the CAST gene. Alleles can be used to genetically typify animals. In a preferred embodiment, alleles may be used as markers for animal meat and / or growth quality. Further described are methods for identifying such markers, and methods for classifying animals to determine those most likely to produce quality and / or growing meat and preferably selecting those animals for future breeding purposes.
