"PREPARATION OF NON HAZARDOUS BROMATION REAGENTS". The present invention relates to a non-hazardous brominating reagent of an aqueous alkaline bromine by-product solution obtained from the bromine recovery plant and containing 25 to 35% bromine dissolved in aqueous lime or sodium hydroxide containing alkaline bromate mixture. and alkaline bromide having a stoichiometric ratio of bromide to bromate in the range 5: 1 to 5.1: 1 or 2: 1 to 2.1: 1 and a pH ranging from 8-12 and also refers to a method for brominating compounds. aromatics by the use of the above brominating agent. |
