titleOfInvention Method to identify myeloperoxidase inhibitors, and use of a method
abstract "METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING MYELOPEROXIDASE INHIBITORS, AND USING A METHOD". A test method for detecting myeloperoxidase enzyme inhibitors, said method comprising the steps of: reacting myeloperoxidase with hydrogen peroxide and a chloride source to generate hypochlorous acid in the presence of a potential inhibitor of said myeloperoxidase; reacting any hypochlorous acid formed with a suitable amine to form the corresponding chloramine; optionally removing any unreacted hydrogen peroxide; reacting any chloramine with an appropriate detector molecule in the presence of iodide to form oxidized detector molecule; determining the amount of oxidized detector molecule formed by measuring absorbance or fluorescence at a suitable wavelength; identify as myeloperoxidase inhibitors those compounds that cause the decrease in the amount of oxidized detector molecule formed. And the use in diagnostic tests for myeloperoxidase activity is described.
