The invention relates to a method for producing caprolactam, characterized in that a) a mixture (I) containing 6-aminocapronitrile and water in the liquid phase is converted into a mixture (II) containing caprolactam, ammonia, water, high melting point components. boiling and low boiling components in the presence of a catalyst; b) the ammonia is then removed from the mixture (11), leaving a mixture (III) containing caprolactam, water, high boiling components and low boiling components; c) water is then removed from mixture (III) leaving a mixture (IV) containing caprolactam, high boiling components and low boiling components and d) a caprolactam containing solid (V) is obtained from mixture (IV) by crystallization, the weight ratio of caprolactam in solid (V) being greater than that in mixture (IV). |
