abstract Invention Patent: "BRANCHED FAT ALCOHOLS, SUBSTANTIALLY Unsaturated". The invention relates to fatty, branched, substantially unsaturated alcohols that are obtained by (a) dimerizing unsaturated fatty acids with 16 to 22 carbon atoms in a known manner, (b) separating the monomeric fraction obtained during dimerization, ( c) transforming the substantially unsaturated branched fatty acids that are obtained in this fraction into corresponding fatty acid methyl esters, and (d) hydrogenating the substantially unsaturated branched fatty acid methyl esters to obtain double bonds.
