titleOfInvention Formulations of erythromycin derivatives of prolonged release
abstract "FORMULATIONS OF PROLONGED RELEASE ERYTHROMYCIN DERIVATIVES". a pharmaceutical composition is disclosed for prolonged release of an erythromycin derivative into the gastrointestinal environment. The composition comprises an erythromycin derivative and a pharmaceutically acceptable polymer, such that when ingested orally, the composition induces a statistically significantly lower C ~ max in plasma than an immediate release composition of an erythromycin derivative while maintaining substantially bioavailability equivalent to that of the immediate release composition of erythromycin derivative under multiple dosing. The compositions of the invention have an improved taste profile and reduced gastrointestinal side effects as compared to those for the immediate release composition.
