titleOfInvention Basic drug compositions with increased bioavailability
abstract Invention Patent: <B> "BASIC DRUG COMPOSITIONS WITH INCREASED BIOAVAILABILITY" <D>. A composition comprising a basic drug entity, a drug that forms a zwitterion or salt from one of them, mixed as a polymer selected from hydroxypropylmethylcellulose acetate succinate (HPMCAS), cellulose acetate trimellate (CAT), phthalate cellulose acetate (CAP), hydroxypropyl cellulose acetate phthalate (HPCAP), hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose phthalate (HPMCAP), and methyl cellulose acetate phthalate (MCAP). Compositions having improved solubility, therefore bioavailability, in the small intestine; Processes for testing such compositions, and methods for using such compositions. The compositions comprise the basic drug, zwitterion or salt and one or more of the polymers previously mentioned. The invention also relates to a method for increasing the bioavailability of a basic or zwitterionic drug, comprising co-administration of the basic drug, zwitterion or salt, with one or more of the aforementioned polymers.
