abstract The invention relates to pantoprazole magnesium salt dihydrate useful in pharmacy. It is of increased stability, suitable for use in solid or oral forms and can be used directly in pharmaceutical processes. Magnesium dihydrate of pantoprazole is useful in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases and can be incorporated into medications along with the usual additional ingredients. A combination drug may contain pantoprazole magnesium dihydrate and pantoprazole sodium sesquihydrate in a weight ratio (based on pantoprazole) of 10% magnesium dihydrate pantoprazole and 90% pantoprazole sodium sesquihydrate to 90% pantoprazole magnesium dihydrate and 10% pantoprazole sodium sesquihydrate, or 25% pantoprazole magnesium dihydrate and 75% pantoprazole sodium sesquihydrate to 75% pantoprazole magnesium dihydrate and 25% pantoprazole sodium sesquihydrate or 40% pantoprazole magnesium dihydrate and 60% sodium sesquichide pantoprazole to 60% pantoprazole magnesium dihydrate and 40% pantoprazole sodium sesquihydrate, or in equal amounts -50% pantoprazole magnesium dihydrate and 50% pantoprazole sodium sesquihydrate.
