The invention relates to a water-borne, chromium-free metal-based coating composition and a method for depositing the coating to provide corrosion protection. The coated coating film with increased service life and high corrosion resistance even for articles that are jagged, for example, couplings in which the coating generally does not fill the profile. The coating contains metallic particles, for example zinc or aluminum. In one embodiment, the composition may be prepared in the form of a packaging for storage. It contains an organo-functional silane, in particular an epoxy-functional silane, as a binder. Applying the coating is easily accomplished by known immersion-dipping or immersion-flowing techniques followed by curing at elevated temperature. |
