titleOfInvention | WASTE WATER TREATMENT CONTROLS BY MEASURING THE OXIDIZATION RATE OF THE USE |
abstract | The invention relates to a method and apparatus for treating wastewater by microorganisms and with means for controlling their metabolic activity in a variable volume bioreactor of the active sludge. The metabolic activity of the biomass is maintained at a level that provides for maximum rate of biological removal of the nutrients via the oxidation and reduction pathways. The method comprises a controlled alternation of intermittent and subsequent aeration and decantation of the liquid to simultaneously increase and maintain a culture of autotrophic, heterotrophic and facultative microorganisms in a sequentially aerated single active sludge to biologically remove organic carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus components from wastewater, which is passed into a bioreactor. The bioreactor comprises two reactor zones (3, 4), a sensor for determining the dissolved oxygen concentration (12) or the probe used to actuate the oxygen supply device (6). |
