The carrier is a gel and forms a film when applying a thin film. It provides a long and high rate of drug delivery, physical and microbiological stability of the film, easy wash from the treatment site, optimal epithelial duration and no preservatives. The carrier is a water based gel containing 4 to 8% polyethylene oxide having a molecular weight of 5.104 to 5.107 and hydrophilic excipients such as polyols, polyethylene glycols, sugars. Formulations for topical treatment of skin and mucosa containing this carrier and at least one drug in a therapeutically effective amount are selected from antibiotics, antiseptics, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents, steroid hormones, antifungals, topical anesthetics, preferably chlornitromycin, 5-nitrox, chlorochinaladol, ketoprofen, cellestone, nystatin, ketoconazole, indomethacin, anesthesin and novocaine. |
