titleOfInvention Process for preparation of sodium salt of penicillanic acid-1,1-dioxide
abstract This method finds application in the pharmaceutical industry. It is performed on a technological scale and ensures high yields and quality of the final product with no requirement to operate in non-aqueous organic environments and no use of hygroscopic reagents. The compound obtained thereby can be used as an inhibitor of β-lactamases in combination with β-lactamic antibiotics resulting in broadening the spectrum and increasing the activity of these antibiotics. The method involves dissolving 1 parts by weight of penicillanic acid-1,1-dioxide in 10-15 parts by weight of water-micible organic solvent. An equivalent amount of saturated aqueous solution of sodium carbonate is added to the filtrate after filtration, the mixture is homogenized for 60-90 minutes and the released product is filtered, washed with the same solvent and dried.
