abstract The method avoids the production of side products and the use of corrosion active reagents and solvents. The preparation of 2-oxo-1.3-dioxolane-4-ylmethyl methacrylate is implemented through the interaction between glycidyl methacrylate and carbon dioxide in the presence of catalyst, such as ammonium or phosphonic halogenide, as follows:<IMAGE>where R1 is ethyl, butyl, phenyl, methyl; R2 is ethyl, benzyl, butyl, methyl, capryl; X is Cl, Br or I; A is N or P. A pressure of 5 to 50 atm. and temperatures between 70 and 140 degrees C are necessary for the synthesis.
