titleOfInvention | METHOD FOR Isolation of cytisine |
abstract | The invention relates to a method for isolating cytisine from plant material. The process according to the invention consists in extracting the vegetable raw material with a lower alcohol acidified with a mineral acid to a pH in the range of 1.5-3.5. The combined alcohol-aqueous extracts were concentrated in vacuo to remove the alcohol and, after filtration, extracted with chloroform, methylene chloride, butyl acetate or normal butanol in a 1: 1 ratio. The ballast-treated acidic aqueous concentrate is basified to pH 9-12 alkaline hydroxide or ammonium hydroxide and the alkaline aqueous concentrate is extracted at least twice with chloroform, methylene chloride, butyl acetate or normal butanol in a ratio of concentrate: 1 to 1 extractant 10. The combined organic extracts were evaporated to dryness, then acetone or ethyl acetate was added to give a suspension which was allowed to crystallize completely at 5-10 C, then filtered and dried. The insulated product has a high yield and purity. |
