abstract The invention relates to compounds useful in the medicaments, their prodrugs, N-oxides, addition salts, quaternary amines or stereomeric isomeric forms. They have the formula wherein R1 is hydrogen, C1-6 alkyl, halogen, formyl, carboxyl, C1-6 alkyloxycarbonyl, C1-6 alkylcarbonyl, N (R3R4) C (= O) = O) N (R5) -, ethenyl substituted with carboxyl or C1-6 alkyloxycarbonyl or C1-6 alkyl substituted with hydroxyl, carboxyl, C1-6 alkoxy, C1-6 alkyloxycarbonyl, N (R3R4) C O) -, C 1-6 alkylC (= O) N (R 5) -, C 1-6 alkyl-S (= O) 2 N (R 5) - or N (R 3 R 4) wherein each R 3 and R 4 is independent and represents hydrogen or C 1-4 alkyl; R5 is hydrogen or a hydroxyl group; R2 is hydrogen, C1-6 alkyl, hydroxy-C1-6 alkyl, C1-6 alkyloxyC1-6 alkyl, N (R3R4) C (= O) -, aryl or halogen; n value 1 or 2; -A-B- is a bivalent radical of formula -Y-CH = CH-; -CH = CH-Y-; or -CH = CH-CH = CH- in which each hydrogen atom can be independently substituted by R6, wherein R6 is selected from C1-6 alkyl, halogen, hydroxyl, C1-6 alkyloxy, ethenyl, substituted with carboxyl or C1-6 alkyloxycarbonyl, hydroxyC1-6 alkyl, formyl, carboxyl and hydroxycarbonyl C1-6 alkyl; and each Y is independently and denotes a bivalent radical of formula -O-, -S- or -NR7-, wherein R7 is hydrogen, C1-6 alkyl or C1-6 alkylcarbonyl; Z is a bivalent radical of formula - (CH 2) p -, -CH = CH-, -CH 2 -CHOH-, -CH 2 -O-, -CH 2 -C (= O) - or -CH 2 -C NOH) -, provided the bivalent radicals are attached to the nitrogen in the imidazole ring
