The invention relates to a compound or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof of formula wherein X is hydrogen, halogen, optionally substituted alkyl or optionally substituted alkoxy or amino groups and Y is optionally substituted alkyl, aryl or heteroaryl. The compounds are highly selective agonists, antagonists or inverse agonists for GABAAmagnetic receptors or prodrugs for agonists, antagonists or inverse agonists for GABAα brain receptors. They are used in the diagnosis and treatment of fear, Down syndrome, drowsiness, cognitive disorders and seizures, overdosage of benzodiazepine drugs and improvement of lifestyle. |
