Thiazole-substituted benzenesulfonamides are 3-adrenergic receptor agonists with very little 1- and 2-adrenergic receptor activity, and as such are capable of increasing lipolysis and energy secretion in cells, therefore, type II diabetes and obesity are very active. The compounds can also be used to lower triglyceride and cholesterol levels, to increase high density lipoprotein levels, to reduce bowel movements and neurogenic inflammations, or as antidepressants. The compounds are prepared by coupling an aminoalkylphenylsulfonamide with an appropriately substituted epoxide. The invention further relates to the compositions and methods of using the compounds in the treatment of said diseases. |
