INSULIN C-PEPTIDES |
abstract |
The invention relates to a peptide which is a fragment of the human insulin C-peptide. The peptide comprises the sequence ELGGGPGAG or a fragment thereof, or the sequence EGSLQ or a fragment thereof. It stimulates Na + K + ATPase activity. The invention also relates to biomimetic organic compounds. They exhibit activation of Na + K + ATPase activities / or cellular binding to renal tubule and fibroblasts at least at the level displayed by the above-mentioned peptides or fragments thereof. Said peptides and compounds are useful in the control of diabetes and diabetic complications or in the stimulation of Na + K + ATPase activity. |
