titleOfInvention NEW Erythromycin class SECOMACROLIDES AND METHOD FOR THEIR PREPARATION
abstract The invention relates to novel class I erythromycins, possible intermediates for the preparation of novel macrolide antibiotics. The compounds have the general formula and their pharmaceutically acceptable addition salts with inorganic or organic acids in which R 1 represents hydrogen, a C 1 -C 4 alkanoyl group , an arylcarbonyl group and together with R2 and the carbon atoms to which they are attached, a cyclic carbonyl or a thiocarbonyl group, R2 is hydrogen or together with R1 and the carbon atoms to which they are attached, a cyclic carbon R3 is hydrogen, C1-C4 alkanoyl or arylcarbonyl group, Z is a hydrogen or L-cladinosyl group of the formula wherein R4 is hydrogen or C1-C4 alkanoyl, W is hydrogen or a D-desosaminal group with in which R5 is hydrogen or a C1-C4 alkanoyl or arylcarbonyl group, X and Y together represent a lactone, or X is a CH2OR6 group, wherein R6 is hydrogen or a C1-C4 alkanoyl group, and Y is a hydroxyl group.
