By the method, patients are subjected to 24-hour oral administration of sustained-release opioid compositions which accelerate the initial opiate absorption to reach the lowest effective analgesic concentration more quickly. Opioid compositions comprise an effective amount of at least one retaining material which provides the release of the opioid analgesic at such a rate as to achieve an analgesic effect after oral administration for at least 24n, providing an absorption half-life of 1 to 8n. relates to a method of treatment using the opioid compositions. |
