titleOfInvention WET FELT FOR STATIONERY
abstract A felt for a paper making machine has pref. the paper supporting surface formed by pref. a non-woven layer of water-repellant fibres (e.g. polytetrafluorethylene, polyolefine, fluorated ethylene-propylene copolymer; or polyamide or polyester treated with fluorated cpds. or polysiloxanes) formed pref. on a base felt of water absorbant fibres and strengthened e.g. by a non-woven fabric. The water-repellant layer is pref. under a tension of 33 dynes/cm (e.g. 28 dynes/cm) and is pref. formed from fibres having a finer denier than the fibres (e.g. polyamide) of the base felt. When a paper web is passed on the felt through squeezer rolls, the capillary action of the water-repellant surface layer ensures more excess water is removed from the paper web.
