abstract Latex for prepn. of impact resistant ABS resins with a particles dia. of 1500-4000 angstroms is prepd. by supplying a reactor provided with an agitator, or the first reactor of a group of reactors provided with agitators with (I) 100 pts. wt. of a conj. diene esp. butadiene, or a mixt. of at least 80% conj. diene and a monomer selected from styrene, alpha-methylstyrene (meth)acrylonitrile or an alkyl (meth)acrylate (II) an aqs. soln. contg. 60-30 pts. wt. water and 0.5-5 pts. wt. org. emulsifiers and (III) 0.01-2 pts. wt. polymn. initiator esp. t-butyl peroxide, the residence time in the one or more reactors being 2-30 hrs. and the temp. being 70-140 degrees C.
