abstract The GeO is opt. obtd. by reducing GeO2 with Ge, a metl other than Ge, C, H2 or a hydrocarbon. The oxidation is opt. performed by means of pure O2 or an O2-contg. gas at 600-1200 degrees C. The prod. dissolves very readily in ethylene glycol for use as a catalyst for polyester formation.
