abstract Dihydroquinidine polymannuronate - antiarrhythmic, with reduced side-effects. Title cpd. which has the empirical formula: (C26H34O8N2)X (where x is the no. of monomeric mannuronic acid units in the poly-acid), possesses the antiarrhythmic activity of dihydroquinidine, but does not cause local irritation of the digestive tract and gives stable and long-lasting blood dihydroquinidine levels. It may be prepd. by reacting stoichiometric amounts of dihydroquinidine and polymannuronic acid, either in free form or as organic or inorganic salts, at 70-75 degrees C in the presence of a solvent until the pH of the soln. is practically 7, then isolating the salt formed.
