titleOfInvention Vinyl chloride polymerise process and copolymers prodn
abstract Vinyl chloride is polymerised, opt. together with hydrosoluble vinyl monomers, in the presence of an ionic emulsifier at a lower concentration than the critical concentrations for the formation of micelles, while subjecting the reaction mixt. to the action of an ionising radiation, pref. gamma rays. The emulsifier is pref. an alkali metal C12-18 alkylsulphonate, or a long chain alkyl-ammonium halide. The process enables vinyl chloride to be continuously polymerised to give a relatively pure polymer contng. considerably reduced amt of impurities absorbed from the reaction mixture.
