Monitoring mycotoxins in the blood of pigs and broilers |
abstract |
The given invention relates to a method for the detection of mycotoxins and their phase I and II metabolites in broiler chickens and pigs. This method includes: • The collection of blood from broiler chickens or pigs as a dried blood spot. • Preparation of the dried blood spot sample for analysis. • Analyzing the sample via liquid chromatography combined with tandem mass spectrometry and high resolution mass spectrometry. This method has favorable applications in the assessment of the exposure of pigs and broilers to mycotoxins after eating contaminated feed. Also, this method can be used to assess the impact of adding mycotoxin detoxifying agents to animal feed. |
