abstract In a first aspect, the present invention comprises an animal feed composition comprising extruded, porous feed granules surrounded by a coating comprising at least two coating layers, a first coating layer comprising an oil / fat mixture enclosed by a second coating layer comprising a probiotic and one or more flavorings, wherein this probiotic in the second coating layer is evenly distributed over the porous volume of the complete feed granule. A second aspect of the invention relates to a method for the production of feed chunks for animals, in which extruded porous feed granules are coated with one or more fats, oils, flavorings, probiotics or a mixture thereof, and wherein the feed granules are coated with at least two coating layers and a first coating layer comprising an oil / fat mixture is applied around the feed granules under a vacuum atmosphere, after which the pressure exerted on the feed granules is increased and a second coating layer is applied comprising a probiotic and one or more flavorings.
