abstract A method of purifying a virus comprising at least the following steps: a) obtaining a fluid containing a virus, b) providing a preformed linear density gradient of a given range X% -Y% ( mass / volume) (X being the lower limit and Y being the upper limit) in a centrifugal rotor having a capacity of at least 4L, at least 6L, at least 8L, or at least 10L, c) the addition of fluid at the preformed linear density gradient, d) centrifugation to separate the virus from contaminating impurities, and e) collection of fractions comprising the purified virus, wherein the linear portion of the gradient comprises the percentage of density corresponding to the percentage at which the virus to be purified will migrate.
