| abstract | An assembly of a rod, ribbon and clamp is described. The clamp housing grips around the rod. The ribbon runs between the rod and an eccentric cam in the clamp. When the clamp is open, the distance between cam and rod exceeds the ribbon thickness and allows the ribbon to pass. In the closed state, the ribbon is clamped between them, securing the housing and ribbon to the rod. Loading the ribbon at one end further tightens the clamp. Pulling the other end, or pressing a lever, opens the clamp. Furthermore, an "iron nurse" is described using the clamp. |
