The present invention includes a method and system for the treatment of liquid, such as from an air scrubber, for removing ammonia from air streams, the method comprising the steps of: of washing ammonia-comprising air; (b) adding a nitrite converting substance, preferably sulfamic acid, to the system, whereby the nitrite in the liquid is chemically converted to nitrogen gas resulting in a treated liquid. The invention can be used in the treatment of air flows generated in manure processing, biogas plants, composting processes, livestock farming or industrial processes. |
