abstract |
Highly effective new Mannich detergents for use in hydrocarbon fuels that reduce engine deposits in spark ignition and compression internal combustion engines are disclosed. These are products of the Mannich condensation reaction obtained by reacting 1) a polyamine having a hindered primary amino group, (ii) a hydroxyaromatic compound substituted with a hydrocarbyl radical, and (iii) an aldehyde. These Mannich detergent compounds can be dispersed in a liquid carrier to provide a fuel additive concentrate for engine hydrocarbon fuels that effectively control the formation of intake valve deposits and also in other engine areas such as injectors placed on the intake manifold and the combustion chambers. |
